It's the home of the Berlin Philharmonic, great conductors like Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Kirill Petrenko, and many more have given concerts here: The Philharmonie Berlin. Built between 1960 and 1963 to plans by Hans Scharoun, the famous concert house forged a path that would inspire architects around the world. Even today, the building's exterior still has a futuristic appearance, while its interior boasts excellent acoustics – all of which was combined with the then revolutionary idea of placing the musicians at the center of the space, allowing them to be experienced equally from all seats. Since its very inception, the Berlin Philharmonie has served as a model for the modern concert hall. This year, the iconic building turns 60 years old – and has lost none of its splendour.
